Conference on historians, public history and 1912-1923 period

Universities Ireland organised a one-day conference, attended by over 300 people, in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin on 23 June, entitled ‘Reflecting on a decade of War and Revolution in Ireland 1912-1923: Historians and Public History’.   

The keynote speakers were Professor Jay Winter of Yale University, Professor Diarmaid Ferriter of UCD and Professor Paul Bew of Queen’s University Belfast.

This will be the first in a series of annual all-Ireland conferences on the 1912-1923 period.  The next one is planned for June 2013 with a Labour in Irish history theme.
