Mapping Frontiers Final Conference
19-20 January 2006

The final conference was organised by the Centre for Cross Border Studies. The international keynote addresses was given by Professor Brendan O'Leary, who holds the Lauder Professorship of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania, and Professor Joseph Heyman, Professor of Anthropology at the University of Texas at El Paso. Other speakers included Professor John Bradley of the Economic and Social Research Institute on the 'island economy' and Professor John Driscoll of the International Centre for Local and Regional Development on cross-border spatial development.

There were sessions facilitated by members of the project team on the following themes:

• the Irish Border and its economic and civil society dimensions
• cross-border mobility and cultural dimensions
• the experience of government and non-government cooperation in transcending the Border

A final round-table session looked at ways forward for North/South and cross-border cooperation as well as for future policy research.
