Annual Conference: The changing contexts of teacher education, North and South

Armagh City Hotel
The
third major all-island conference of the Standing Conference
on Teacher Education, North and South (SCoTENS) was
held in the City Hotel Armagh on Thursday 11 – Friday
12 November 2004.
The
conference was addressed by a keynote speaker from
the European Commission, Mr Seán Feerick of
the Education and Culture Directorate, who spoke about
the Commission’s
study of the education and training of teachers
in Europe. There was also a symposium on Teaching
Councils and teacher education, addressed by the heads
of the Teaching
Councils in Scotland, Republic of Ireland and Northern
Ireland.
On Thursday evening Dr
Pauric Travers launched
the November
2003 Initial Teacher Education conference report and Professor
Richard McMinn launched the Diversity
in Early Years Education, North and SOuth: Implications for
Teacher Education research report.
