The project centred on a shared web resource ‘Citizenship and Science Exchange’, with curriculum support materials, discussion areas and ‘ask the expert’ services, where teachers and students could interact in debate and discourse on the roles, rights and responsibilities of the citizen in a society which is increasingly science-dependent.
Teachers and students (age 12-15) from 16 second-level schools on both sides of the border were involved. Each school implemented three modules on topics such as pollution, nutrition and genetics.
The three modules prioritised for implementation are Environmental Perspectives, Food Nutrition and Energy.
